AWFA Life Membership Criteria

The granting of Life Membership is a balancing exercise. Dealt with by either a subcommittee or by the Executive of the day. If the person is nominated or seconded by a member of the Executive and the nominee is an Executive Member, then the nomination must be passed on to subcommittee established by the MC. Life membership is awarded to those who have made a significant contribution to the Association and the Sport of Football. The aim is to make life membership hard to obtain so that it is respected by members and valued by recipients. It should also be recognised that life membership does not have to be awarded each year. Criteria to be considered includes: • Length of active Membership (i.e. 30 years at Club); • Positions held and length of time (15-20 years); • Less than 15-20 years may be considered if exceptional circumstances are involved; • Participating to a much greater degree than the average member, and; • Significant improvements to the sport. Shorter periods and contributions to Football should be nominated for other recognition awards such as Honours, Excellence etc. Nominations must be forwarded to the Secretary before the 30th September of the current year, using the prescribed form AWFA03. Forfeiture Life Membership is absolutely forfeited upon any failure to observe any by-laws or constitutional requirements and will be forfeited upon the passing of a special resolution for the removal from Life Membership for reasons not limited to for bringing the name of the AWFA into disrepute.
